I didn't know this was a Steven King anthology going in. I am not a Steven King fan. To me, he seems misogynistic and vulgar. I wanted to push through, though, because the only things I've enjoyed from him were short stories. His story was the worst thing I've read from him. It was fatphobic, weirdly sexual, and very vulgar. I made a point to try every other story in the anthology, but none were able to redeem it. I enjoyed maybe 2 stories? I would like to state that I do enjoy horror. All in all, I probably should have dnf'd this.

Pretty hit or miss. Some of the stories are great and some just drag on and on.

So hard to get through. I basically couldn’t get over the fact that there was not a single female author in this collection, and only two female characters in the whole book. Thats not even being nitpicky, its just wierd and not a coincidence.

Líbily se mi povídky:
Hřbitovní tanec, Vábení plamenů, Zrádné srdce (klasika), Mateřská láska a Strážcův průvodce.
Zvlášť poslední jmenovaná byla super, protože prostě Lovecraft, že jo :)

Ostatní byly buď nudné, bez nápadu nebo prostě zbytečné.

Very hit or miss.
Clive Barker, Bev Vincent and John Ajvide Linqvist provided very good stories. Kevin Quigley's could have been good but IS a bit lacking on the execution.

It might be a bit more of a personal taste but I find it disappointing that apart from P.D Cacek, not female writers was featured. They barely even feature as characters (except for the story 'Aeliana' by Bev Vincent). When they exist, they're just names or props or here to exact violence on. An important point is sexual violence is very present in a lot of the stories...
