Lmaooooo I might just be a bitch but I would have NEVER forgiven that betrayal after searching for my baby for TEN YEARS. Period.

Also, I felt very little chemistry between this couple from the beginning. The "mystery" was very compelling but so much was glossed over at the end. Things with Pavon were rushed, we didn't get anything more satisfying than "They were arrested" for True and Susanna, and what happened to Rip? The scenes with Milla/David and Milla/Justin's adopted parents were very touching, and I wept like a leaky faucet. All around I think this book would have been much better off without a romance.

PS and what are up with these names? Rip? True??

There were so many themes and intricate emotions explored in this book, that twenty years after publication, the story still felt relevant. I am always blown away by how detailed, varied and solid her main characters are in each of her books, but Milla and Diaz were exceptional leads, capable of shouldering the sombre premise of the book. It is sad that such books are often dismissed as fluff pieces read by romance fans, but this was so much more.

This powerful story by Linda Howard is one of her most outstanding pieces of work. Both Milla and James are two wonderful characters and their story is one I guarantee that no one can really put down without seeing it through.

The story starts with Milla married to Dr. David Boone, a surgeon who with a group of other doctors opens up a free clinic in Mexico for a year. Milla gives birth to their son Justin whilst in Mexico, who is snatched away from Milla whilst she is left bleeding to death from the attack. In the midst of it all, Milla however manages to leave her mark on one of her attackers, finding the man with the scar becoming her life goal once she recovers enough to look for her son.

Ten years on, divorced from David, Milla runs an organization known as Finders that deploy volunteers who help in missing children/adult cases.Through all that time, Milla has never once given up hope that one day she would find her son and her resolve to do this finally leads her to James Diaz, whom at first Milla thinks to be involved with the kidnapping of Justin.

To Milla’s surprise, James turns out to be the only one who can find the answers to all the questions Milla has been asking all those years. What Milla doesn’t know is that it is those that she is closest to who have ulterior motives, who do not want her to find out the truth related to the disappearance of her son. And once Milla does find Justin, the sheer act of bravery that she performs would forever be etched onto my heart because I do not know of anyone who could have done what she did for her son.

Cry No More is a book that has found a permanent place on my favorites and keepers shelf. Whenever I need myself a Linda Howard fix, which is often, I find myself craving some James Diaz for some reason and I always end up either skimming through the delicious parts or just re-reading the whole thing all over again. Cry No More is a book that deals with a heartbreaking issue, the raw pain that Milla goes through towards the end just reaches something deep inside of you until you are ready to howl from the sheer agony of it all.

And through the stormy days that follows, James proves his unwavering love for a woman whom he considers his in every way. The way he completely takes care of Milla’s every single need makes you want to lay yourself down somewhere and offer yourself to James to do as he pleases. He is the strong, silent and lethal warrior type of hero who would have zero qualms about killing when it comes to protecting the ones he loves. His utter focus and the dangerous vibe that always surrounds him is what draws me to his character every.single.time. that I read this book. And I am sure I would keep coming back for more of him in the near & foreseeable future!

If I could give this book more than 5-stars, I definitely would. Because Cry No More is a jewel of a novel, that indeed deserves high praise for the masterpiece that Linda Howard seems to have spun with this one. Very highly recommended!

P.S. I edited my review after another re-reading/skimming session that just took place today (20th August 2011), of course to get my fix of Linda Howard & to curb my thirst for a quotes fest I knew I could find in this book. And the sheer magic that this story weaves never seems to fade; I ought to know cos I keep coming back for more!

This is one of those stories that I would never grow tired of. This is Linda Howard at her finest and best. The story is gut wrenching, a mother's love that perseveres through everything, a mother that never gave up on her child, a mother who beat all odds and found her missing boy, years later.

The perfect blend of romance, suspense, heat, and love that resonates through the reader! This is a book that has a permanent position on my favorites shelf!

this was a really good book, but i really don't think i could read something like this again. Milla is so strong. i can't believe that she is in that type charity after losing her son. even more thought when she finally found him. and her ex-husband. i am glad that they still care for one another, but i still can't believe that he gave up on her. but i am glad that everything worked out in the end for Milla and her son, Justin.

Cry No More is a tale of how strong a mother's love is toward her child - selfless, compassionate, fierce, and eternal. Justin was just six weeks old when he was snatched from his mother Milla Boone. Cry No More is about Milla's journey of ten years looking for her son. During the search, her path crossed with Diaz, a bounty hunter, and together they break the smuggling ring that kidnapped Justin.
I really like this book. The writing is amazing and the main characters are memorable. Milla is such a strong and selfless mother. Diaz is the kind of anti-hero you can't help but love. I really devour this book; however, I wish there are things the author could have done better. For starters, it'll be great if we have an epilogue. Well, chapter 30 does feel like an epilogue, but another page wouldn't hurt. And despite the solid character arc for Diaz, I feel like there is something missing and he remains too mysterious for a H of a book that's already ending. And unless I missed it, we never get to find out why he was in the cemetery the night he met Milla. We know he was there to track Pavón for the organ smuggling but who paid him and who tipped him, it was never revealed. Overall, still a great, enjoyable read.
