This book has been the talk of the town obviously, and I had to patiently wait for the audiobook to become available with the significant interest.

To those who have watched the interviews/specials, consider this an incredibly extended behind the scenes in three parts. The first is Harry’s childhood & growing up after his mother’s death, the second is adulthood & the army, and the third is where Meghan enters & they leave the UK. The second part does drag on, but it is informative in its own way. Not unlike many other young men, Harry enters the army to essentially make something of himself, and as a desperate measure to escape the paps to whom he has been sacrificed for the gain of others.

Those looking for a greater critique of “the Institution” will be sorely disappointed; while there are things Harry calls into question as problematic, it’s still his family, and he still holds love for them. Perhaps the separation with time will lead to more breakthroughs, but defending your biracial wife seemed like a pretty great place to start. Especially when your family otherwise couldn’t be arsed.

I was surprised the book ends at the death of QEII when it hasn’t even been 6 months yet (this shows how much I know about publishing and all that). It was a cute tribute, and to know he still had her love has to feel wonderful. To have the matriarch make you feel like more than just a spare is something to be cherished.

And to hear him gush about Meghan? I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t envious.

In sum, I knew I always picked the right brother. I also know I made the right decision listening to this in audiobook form, since he narrates. It was funny to catch his laughs at moments, and (though also a little cringey) to hear him sing. His voice is also very calming, so putting this on before bed was the perfect wind-down.

This was surprisingly interesting!

I was initially roped in by the strange snippet about his nether regions but I found quite a lot of interesting stories in here.

One of the bigger controversies I was intrigued to hear about was his thoughts behind dressing up as a Nazi and the other brainless things he did as a youth, to get him dubbed as "Prince Harry, the Thicko", but I was most invested when he was talking about how he met Megan and the relationships and difficulties that grew there.

Hearing about his struggles with how he handled emotion after the death of his mum was quite heartbreaking to hear. Being in a similar situation I couldn't help but empathise.

There were a lot of instances were he sounded so far removed from reality and woe is me, but for the most part this was absorbing.

Overall, a fascinating insight into the Prince's tell-all.

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<

"Enough death- enough. When is someone in this family going to break free and live?"
This book is heavy.
It feels like a therapy session- the assignment of write it all down, get it out, and let it free.
I knew about Meghan as an actress, followed her blog, but didn't know about Prince Harry much outside of being Princess Diana's son. I knew about the abuse she faced.
And watching the abuse from UK press and weird trolls- I thought "Is Harry really worth it? Can't see just come home so they can STOP?" But, seeing the love and respect and reverence they have for each other. I then thought, yeah they're worth it. They'll protect each other like true spouses should, they'll find a way out.
And here we are.
Never expected Harry to be anti-monarchy so confused as to why people placed that on him. I knew he'd think, at first, that he HAD to continue working for the crown. That's all those in the family are raised to do. Accept your role, and accept abuse from false stories. Don't even stay whats a rumor and what's true. That's no way to live.
Also, there are some people who are committed to misunderstanding you no matter what- ignore them.
To freedom Harry!
