I never expected the story would have an ambiguous ending. I am slightly disappointed with the ending, although I don't know what kind of ending I would expect to be. It's probably the combination of the mystery, tension and suspense which had been building up since the beginning, leading me to have a high expectation for the story's closure. Anyway, I still love and tremendously enjoy the story. It's a memorable storyline with a forgettable ending.

What a cliff hanger! So many more books could have been written with that ending.

”Do you know what it means, to destroy a human being’s basic sense of right and wrong? What happens when you wake up the monster within a human heart?”
I know that giving this classic piece of work anything under 4 stars is criminal, but hear me out.
I have very mixed feelings about this series. There were moments which were amazing, unprecedented and absolutely genius. There is no doubt that this work is a the pinnacle of psychological thriller.
However, I honestly believe that it should have been cut 3 volumes shorter, because there were many moments which dragged the story... and it often at times felt verbose.
The concept: excellent.
The execution: lagged. Quite often.
I’m definitely going to watch the anime and process my feelings there as well, and come back to this manga.
