This has been my favorite comic/ graphic novel to date. The introduction of a new world within the buffyverse was done really well, and the characters had great depth. The graphics are amazing, I really enjoyed the use of color throughout. A great read if you're a fan of Buffy/ Angel, or even just general monster/ vampire take down stories.

5 slayer-tastic stars and a definite new favorite in the Buffyverse!

Normally, I am not a fan of comic books, but I enjoyed this one in particular. Joss Whedon is amazing at what he does, and I enjoy seeing his work. It took me little over an hour to finish this book.

This is it. My 100th book for 2013.

...there's more Fray books, right?

This isn't the only one?

Please?

Heels, meet head.

I've been reading an awful lot lately about Joss not actually being a feminist. And I've read their references, watched an interview with Charisma Carpenter.

And while I completely see where he's acted like an asshole...

No one. No one. Writes female characters like he does. Period, point blank, end of story, don't bother to continue talking. And that counts for a lot in my book.

Melaka Fray is absolutely incredible. Buffy, but not Buffy. Faith, but not Faith. Every ass kicking slayer for the last however many decades between Chosen and this world, rolled into a strong, sexy, bad ass package with fanfuckingtastic hair.

Also, the area where they live is called the warren.

SHOUT OUT TO ME. RIGHT THERE.

If you want to know my favorite parts, go to the quotes for Fray, because all of them but one were created by me. So many amazing, goosebump-inducing moments.

SpoilerI didn't bond with Loo, which I think was supposed to happen. Did it suck when Fray found her? Fucking yes. Ass. But I didn't have my "Oh, no," moment until the reveal. And without the benefit of music, or dramatic zoom-in, in one comic panel with one word bubble, I got that stomach clench, goosebump feeling when she says, "You did."

Urkonn. Damn. I really liked that character. And I actually blame Joss fucking Whedon for this, because I should've known better. It's almost telegraphed through the novel that this is a bonafide demon. Not a soulful vampire, not a wrinkly kitten eater who brings chicken wings to a party. He's there to keep order, not be her friend, and he answers to dangerous higher powers.

And yet, I got sucked in, and believed he was her not!Giles. And that moment just...sssssssssssucked. His death was fantastic, though. And powerful.

I love love love love love love love love loved when Erin joined the...fray. Fuck battle. I mean, could she have been dressed more like a superhero in that moment, with the red jumpsuit and the blonde ponytail? Should've seen that coming early on just from the hair.

I also should've seen Harth-as-a-vamp coming. Damn, I'm off my game. But I love the idea of twins, and the entire heritage being split between slayer and not. I wonder how long Joss had that bobbing around in his head before he wrote the comic.

Seriously, I could not love this more. Wait, yes, I could. I could love it more if there were more comics.

Fuck S.H.I.E.L.D. I want more Fray.

Was alright. Bought it cheap, but probably hoped for a little more from Whedon. Solid enough, I suppose.

Interesting. Had all the Joss Whedon elements: bad ass female, sad turning point death, good twists, but something was missing. The main character was a lot of fun, very reminiscent of Buffy. I wish more information was provided as to the story of the villain.
