I was so looking forward to this book. I loved "The Extraordinaries" and "Flash fire".
And in total this series has the best ADHD description I have read so far. Especially in book one.
"Hear wave" - I'm happy I read the conclusion especially after the cliffhanger of book two.
The characters were as lovely as I remembered. And somebody loves superhero stories. That was very obvious through the trilogy.
Unfortunately the first half of the book was so slow and read like ADHD (not in a good way), being everywhere and nowhere. After the cliffhanger I expected the resolution a little bit faster.
And after a while you could guess where the story was going. I wish the return of this special character would have been dealt with differently.
After the big revelation the book got so much better. The second half reminded me of book number one and two in the series. The fight scenes were incredible.
And throughout the book the characters laid themselves emotionally bare. The characters had no issues in talking about how they felt, whom they loved and taking responsibility for mistakes made. This is pretty rare in fantasy, since characters have to be strong and don't show emotions.
I loved the series and even if "Heat wave" is not my favorite, I would highly recommend the series. It is a lovely and fantastic ride.

It’s honestly not possible to review this without giving all of the spoilers, but what I can say is that this was the absolute perfect ending to this series. Nicky, yes times a million. I loved every part, I couldn’t put it down, the new characters were perfect, incredible storyline and absolutely incredible ending. 1000/10 recommend reading this whole series. Thank you, TJ book daddy for promptly ruining all other books for me, as you always do.

Good conclusion to the trilogy however pacing was a bit mixed at times and some comments took you out of the story

I loved this series and this was one of my top books of 2022. I was happy to catch up with the characters and was looking forward to reading it.
I had high expectations and, even if I enjoyed it, I think it was a bit too didactic and some parts reminded more of a lessons than a part of a plot.
I understand some parts can be useful for young queer reader but they slowed down the pace and the plot took the backseat.
I loved the characters and found the closure very satisfying.
I know that the very high level of the previous instalment spoiled me
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I just adore TJ Klune’s writing! This continuation of Nick and Seth’s story was another awkward, laugh out loud, sweet and endearing book! The playful humor around teen angst and first time experiences in a relationship were so authentic and at times extremely educating! This story has such incredible insight and breaks down some serious adolescent issues in such an accepting way!

At times I felt there was a little too much length and detail during the fight scenes, but it is a super hero story after all. Plenty of gasp worthy moments with epic plot twists!

Heat Wave ended in the most splendid way and made me so happy. I’m gonna miss Nicky, Seth, Jazz, Gibby, Burrito Jerry, Miss Conduct, and all of the other phenomenal side characters we loved during this trilogy!
