I was disturbed by how much of the message was all sex is justifiable. There were multiple instances and levels of cheating in relationships with glossed over consequences. I liked the IDEA of the book’s weekend, and the alternating perspectives. Lots of mysteries and background drama in each woman’s life. Might be a fun summer beach read in Nantucket, but too simple on all the endings.

I love to visit Nantucket in my reading. This is probably my favorite Elin Hilderbrand book yet! I enjoyed the way the female friendships in this book were portrayed. There are definitely some difficult circumstances and hard topics, but I believe they are handled very well.

This book could have been good. The story was a good idea.
I only liked one of the characters, maybe two. Most were not lovable nor relatable. All were selfish.
The end was rushed and felt unfinished.
There was a random narrator at the very beginning and randomly popped up, and we never find out who it is. Also, the dog has a narrative ?… but only 430~ pages in and once. It didn’t drive the plot or thought process at all.
The whiplash from the back and forth between the present and past! It was almost hard to keep up with. Tried too hard to have a weaving dynamic of characters.
I really wanted to like it but it felt like a superfluous read.

I love Elin Hildenbrand’s descriptions in this novel - of the food and landscape especially. She does backstory so well and the flashbacks really transport you to the respective time and place. She also has a great grasp of the current zeitgeist and the pop culture references in the present keep things fresh.
This is a great vacation read and I liked the various struggles each character was doing through, as well as how they wrapped up in the end.
