This was disappointing - a rehash of a few helpful tips from her other books and largely filler. It felt like a book written for the sake of writing another book. Go read Marie Kondo instead.

This is simple and easily applicable. It made me start cleaning up the house, and not feeling guilty that I couldn't do it all at once. My mom used to say "a place for everything and everything in its place", I think her and Rubin are kindred spirits.

This was a quick read and though I don’t feel like it contained lots of new information on this topic, I would definitely recommend this for someone wanting a quick reference. I always appreciate Gretchen’s writing style and her references to research studies.

If, like me, you've been on a bit of a "New Year, New Me" kick, this book might be appealing to you. To be fair, the reason I didn't like this book wasn't Rubin's fault. It's the fact that I have read several of these types of books fairly recently.

I will say it's more of a "get into the mentality of decluttering" than it is a guide to decluttering, and at times there is repetition (quite a lot even), but with short, bite-sized pieces of information it serves to reinforce rather than bore. Read this or Marie Kondo- but no need to do both.

Oh boy did this book make me get up off my butt and start cleaning my house. I listened to this whole book on audiobook in a matter of about 2 hours and, in that time, I got the most cleaning done I've completed in the last month or two. I also cleaned out some spaces that had been bugging me. I highly recommend you read/listen to the book. I am on a mission to declutter my whole house now.

Short, average. 2.5 stars probably but I'm rounding up.

There was no real new information in this book. To be fair, I've read a lot of organizing/tidying/decluttering books, so I don't always find exciting new insights when I'm reading these books. Still, it felt really repetitive and standard, without even interesting writing styles.

It was presented in a short, digestable, compact way, which might be good, but it felt closer to an internet article or a podcast episode than an actual book. It wasn't fully a waste of my time, but I didn't really benefit from reading it (or at least, not more than any other organization manual I've read)

PS I may be bitter; I've read a lot of these books and my outcome is always mediocre at best. If you're giving me an organization guide, either come up with a new way to say it or a new style of presentation. Even if the information is all standard, I would at least like it presented in a unique way (this one was not)
