This might be my favorite time loop book that I've read so far. In spite of how much death there is (that does immediately get undone), I found it to be pretty lighthearted and funny. I liked how chaotic and funny the protagonist was, and how much it emphasized the importance of all the relationships in one's life: family, friends, and romantic partners. Knocking off .25 stars because, as some other reviews said, Kate didn't really seem to have any character flaws. Her main challenge is
her illness, which gets, if not cured, at least less life-threatening by the end.

Jack and Kate meet at a party, immediately they bond and Jack instantly knows he is falling in love. Kate also meets the approval of Jack’s best friends, Jillian and Franny, that is when Jack knows she is the one. However, every love story is complicated. Kate has an ongoing illness, and dies. That is where the love story should end right? Wrong. Kate’s death sends Jack to the beginning again, right back to the moment that they first meet. Jack now has the chance to prevent Kate’s death, however his new choices cause different problems for his loved ones. Everything happens for a reason; is it worth trying to alter the course life will take.

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of this book by Netgalley and Katherine Tegen Books. The synopsis immediately drew me in because I felt that it was very unique. I did enjoy this book, it continued to intrigue me throughout and the message that it portrayed to the reader was like no other book I have ever read. That alone is a big reason I would recommend it to people. However, it was very long and I did find myself skipping over the more trivial parts as I just wanted to get to the interesting parts. Which is a shame because I loved the idea of this book. It could have been at least 100 pages shorter. I believe that this book would make a great film and Im intrigued to see if that will happen. I really enjoyed the unique synopsis of this book, the plot and the ending was fantastic. I would recommend this book and I would definitely read another book by this author.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and, if I expected it to be a 5 stars and it wasn't, Opposite of Always still was a very solid 4 stars, a great contemporary with a great premise, endearing characters and a narration that made me smile and laugh and feel emotional at times, too. Definitely a book I'll recommend!

A million thanks to the publisher for sending me a digital review copy of this book. This did not, in any way, influence my thoughts and rating.

Bonus: My favorite quotes.
"My bookshelf is sagging from too !any books. Who does this stuff belong to? Whose memories are catalogued in my head? And I feel full. And I wonder, how could I ever got anything, anyone else into all of this? Into all of me?

" And I know I'm betraying Franny all over again, revealing his deepest truths. But sometimes your wrong for the right reasons. "

"I try my hand at how a wealthy benefactor might chuckle, a cross between don't be ridiculous and I wipe my butt cheeks with fifty dollar bills just because.

I don’t know what’s gotten into me recently but I have completely fallen in love with books where characters are stuck in a loop of the same day. In this book Jack falls in love with Kate, then Kate suddenly dies (that’s not a spoiler) The book follows Jack as the day is constantly reset after Kate dies. I loved this book for many reasons. As the time was reset after Kate’s death you could see how much Jack’s live grew for her. We get to see him change the lives of everyone around him in an attempt to save the girl he loves. I also love the butterfly effects that took place on this book. It was overall a cute, intriguing ya contemporary.
