I love every peanuts strips book I've read so far and this is no exception. It was great seeing the introduction to Sally she's so cute! Also the birth of the great pumpkin and everyone starting to take on their classic personalities. I love every single character, and I especially love Linus and Lucy they're so funny and such a realistic portrayal of siblings it makes me laugh lol

I never realized that the Peanuts comics were so conservative. I've read snippets here and there, but had never actually read them at length. I picked up this collection because I found it at the thrift store for $1.89. I wouldn't have splurged on how expensive it is full price to read it.

I can't really say too much bad about it. It's the beloved Peanuts. But there's also nothing I'm dying to rant or rave over. Snoopy's still my favorite, though. He's a great character. Overall, I enjoyed the stories, but didn't find it compelling enough to feel anything more than a 3.5 star rating. I might have even been a little generous. I've always loved the cartoons, so it was weird for me not to love the actual comics.

They were still enjoyable, but nothing I'm dying to read more of.

The Peanuts anthologies are an excellent look back at our childhood through the eyes of Charlie Brown and gang. 1959-1960 brings us the birth of Charlie Brown's sister , the great pumpkin, and of course Snoopy.

This was my second time reading a Peanust compendium and I had a blast as much as I did the first time!
Schulz's talent to tell stories through the eyes of children with themes that are so poingnant and current is just out of this world.
For sure these are comics that will last generations to come!

I'm so glad I came across this book. In a difficult time, I have this book to thank for lightening a few days of the week and making me smile enough to forget what I was sad about. I hope to come across some of the other volumes and on December 16th I shall be celebrating Beethovens birthday with Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, Charlie Brown and Schroeder.

In these years Schulz really gains a lot of confidence and the experimental tweaking of gags and characters begin to truly pay off. There are some great debuts in this collection, but the craftsmanship of the strips is evident even in the strips that, at first glance, could have appeared in any of his late '50s strips.

I love sharing my favorite strips, but its a little labor intensive, so from now on I'll skip it unless the spirit moves me. (le sigh).

Debuts! I can't believe it took over eight years for Schulz to give Lucy her Psychiatric Help booth (the rate was 5 cents even then)! Linus simply can't get a break, on top of Snoopy's continued depredation, his grandmother confiscates his blanket for the first time, and he has his faith tested by the Great Pumpkin.

Of course, the biggest change is the introduction of Sally. We hear about her being born and, much like toddler Lucy and baby Linus, quickly grows up.

The original Patty doesn't get much love, even though she was one of the original three Peanuts characters. I remember reading a reference that Schulz got tired of drawing her tartan dress. I'm glad she got the cover at least once.
