I really loved the hero of Fierce, Levi, because he’s different from the typical shifter hero. Levi’s teen years were traumatic, so he never went through the “first shift” that comes with adolescence. But he’s found acceptance at Wolf Ranch, and his inner wolf definitely is happy that the new vet, Charlie, turns out to be a lovely woman rather than the expected man.

Charlie and Levi are both excellent protagonists, and Fierce is a good entry in Rose and Vale’s series. I struggled a bit with Charlie’s dilemma, mainly because it seemed to me that a major plot element (the second shipment of a drug) was noted but never resolved in any way. Charlie and Levi pretty much fall into insta-love, which I found a bit challenging to swallow from Charlie’s perspective. And man, Levi’s bunkmates were sure willing to be kicked out of their cabin pretty easily. 

But, oh, the chemistry these two have together! I love how Levi is willing to do anything for Charlie, and how Charlie truly struggles with her problem and how much to share with Levi. I also liked that there was just enough hint of menace throughout the book to build to the ending in a good, incremental way. Charlie gradually realizes how much Levi means to her. Levi slowly realizes what Charlie is to him, and it’s a joy for the reader to follow along as all these story lines build and connect.

Overall, the Wolf Ranch series has been strong and interesting. I can’t wait to see what Rose and Vale create there next!

Quick, dirty, little bit of breeding kink sprinkled into these books. Minimal complaints.

A huge thank you to Elle Woods PR and the authors for the advance copy. I volunteered to leave an honest review. My review has not been influenced in any way.I really love the way this author duo writes shifters. I can't explain it except to say it's so easy to sink into the world and let the words take you away. Add in cowboys and a wicked mystery plot?! Then you got me really hooked. This had a whole lot of upside and I'm now looking forward to reading the one's in this series I've missed. I had a lot of fun with this and Charlie is a strong heroine who dealt with a lot and took a lot in her stride. Levi our hero also had some baggage. Their story was a lot of fun.
