I felt this installment was slow to start but was a beautiful read in the end. I enjoyed it very much and cared for the characters. While wildly different in style and location, Anne's house of dreams felt like the first house my husband and I lived in together too - a perfect fit for that early married stage of our lives.
Anne losing Joyce broke my heart, having recently become a mother myself. I felt Montgomery did well portraying grief. And I was very happy and so pleased with the name when little Jem was born!
I feel about as sad to be leaving the house of dreams as Anne did.
I loved the Presbyterian Christian influence on this book and appreciated how interesting a book can be without explicit and horrid content.
Looking forward to the next novel.
