Firstly wanted to say, I didn't read the 1st book and didn't really need to nor did I have the urge to read it after finishing this one. That could definitely change many people's opinions on this book.
Secondly, I truly love a HEA but sometimes you are going through something and need to witness that even made-believe characters go through it too. They aren't perfect after the HEA, they make mistakes, they experience tragedies, and the MMC sometimes isn't the dream guy you made him out to be.
Now with all that laid out, I truly loved this book. I was rooting for my girl Becca the whole damn time. To see everything she had to go through and come out of that so much stronger really inspired me. Emma did such an amazing job writing about the trauma and aftermath of what Becca had to go through. Also, Sam sticking by her side through all of this was so comforting after everyone completely dropped her without even asking her what happened. That was very disappointing. You would think friends who have known her for a long time would be able to see how out of character this was for her. And God, don't even get me started with Ryan. I honestly wished that he lived his life never getting to experience a love like the one she gave him. For me, he didn't deserve forgiveness not after everything he put her through. The never-ending cruelty that he constantly put her through. It was gutwrenching. Anyway, that is all I will say about him because just thinking about him makes me want to wring his neck.

This is easily the best five stars book I’ve read in a while. I’ve been wanting to read a book full of drama it wrecks me, well this book does. I haven’t cried so much over a story lately, and this lockdown has made me want to pour my emotions and this book made me channeled out everything.
The writing is so good that I feel every emotion Ryan and Becca were experiencing.

Though admittedly I was so frustrated over the miscommunication plot but the writing is so descriptive and convincing, that I really tried to see everything from each character’s perspective. Even though the side characters were a bit flat in Four Doors Down, here all characters felt very three dimensional, even minor characters like Mason and Bernie. I love to see that even small side characters show growth, especially Mike at the epilogue. All in all, it is an epic story of love and friendship.

Spoilers ahead
Becca and Ryan are finally together and try to do LDR.
Becca gets hurts and Ryan thinks she’s cheated, he’s hurt and blocks her out of his life while she’s suffering and hurting.
Made me cry when Sam was defending Becca at the party. Becca went through so much, it was good that she had friends who looked after her. Ryan was an *ss. IDC if he was hurting, he did some really mean sh*t.
The grovelling wasn’t enough to make up for what Ryan did.
Also, Becca unrealistically got into med school easily when irl it’s a lot harder than that.
Anyways, an angsty emotional read that explores important topic. Ending could’ve been better.

I had to pick this book up because I absolutely loved the first one but WHAT A ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS. Not to give anything away but read with caution, few cw warnings in it. I wish the ending didn't feel so rushed but ultimately had me smiling in tears.

WHEEEWWWW i made it out alive after reading this.
I was a crying & sobbing mess while reading this book. This book literally rip my heart out and stomp it a million times before shred it into tiny pieces. Gosh this book really bruised my heart. I need a few moments to heal from it every now and then.

It’s really sad to think that the incident is pretty common to happen to other people in real life. To the people who went through something like this, I’m so sorry and i hope everything gets better.

Angsty, read dealing with deep and difficult topics.

This is a reread for me. It’s a really good angsty romance- one of those where because of a misunderstanding, everyone turns against the heroine. There were parts of this that were really hard to read. Overall, I loved this and thought it was well done. I do wish the ending were more fleshed out- after spending all that time asking for another chance when the misunderstanding is cleared up, suddenly she doesn’t want that anymore? And I hate that it jumps four years. I think if the ending had been without that long time frame, even though on page it’s just one sentence to the next, this could have been a five star read for me.
