I couldn’t get through the first full chapter. The conversation between the main character and her sister was what did it for me. It was basically the author saying “Look at me, I’m being inclusive with the LGBTQ+ community, by saying it’s ok if the main character likes boys or girls!” but then turned around in a sentence or two to say that not being attracted to anyone was weird. Excuse you? There are asexual and aromantic people out there. Several of the other comments which were clearly the author trying too hard to be witty at the expense of people with substance abuse problems, people who find fulfillment in “New Age crap”, etc. bothered me, but I was willing to give them both a pass. It’s a pity. I love Greek mythology and young adult fantasy, so I really thought I’d love this series.
