I enjoyed the story but the narrator was TERRIBLE! This is one that should be read not listened to. For me to have listened past 30 minutes is a huge compliment to the writing

4 stars | I was not too sure when I first picked this up because I'm not really a fan of the military/ex-soldier trope but I'm glad I did.

One of the better books I've read in some time. Read it in a few hours. I loved the detail the author put into the story and especially about PTSD, for me it seemed very life like and believable. Most times authors give their character something that makes them seem broken or at the very least not completely whole and then forget all about the issue once the characters are together. This is one of the few times where that wasn't an issue. Really loved this book.

Good story. I have a family member who suffers from PTSD, so this one hits home.

4,5 stars. I had to let this book sink after I finished it. It could have been a more than 5 stars book for me. But the end was a let down. For me it could have added 1 or more chapters before the epilogue came. Or the chapter before The epilogue should have been longer. I want more...Ray and Carly time in and out of bed. So that was a miss for me.

This was a great story and my favourite of the three O'Brien stories I've read. She proves to be a very versatile author and is not afraid to tackle 'issues'. The characters are wonderfully fleshed out and their relationship builds realistically and each new aspect feels authentic. Well worth the read.
