Crown of Crystal Flame is the most intense and heart-breaking novel in Tairen Soul series. Prepare to bite your nails to the core, cry your eyes out (if you get attached to the characters) and compare C.L. Wilson to the [a:George R.R. Martin|346732|George R.R. If you like fantasy romance genre, you will love this series. Main couple is very intense and there are a lot of romantic gestures. But I wish C.L. Wilson dedicated a bit more to the rest of the characters.
And while the main plot is resolved, a lot of loose ends about secondary characters are left. Maybe there will be books about it someday. Maybe not....

This book, like each of it's predecessors, is different than the others. There was a touch more romance in this novel than the last one but still the romance was overshadowed by the fantasy. I was happy that this book picked up considerably after the first couple of chapters and considerably from the previous book. After read this book the last felt more like a stepping stone than ever before.

I was so happy when the book finally reached the point where things started to go right. Everything kept happening to these characters, through the whole series, one thing after another. C.L. Wilson has no qualms about torturing her characters to the brink. I felt so bad for these characters reading the whole book and the whole series, I fell in love with these characters from the first book and I felt deeply every time they were hurt.

It's always a bitter sweet moment when a series ends. I am sad and happy at the same time. Sad to say goodbye to these characters and happy to find most of them ended up happy when I was done reading. I enjoyed this series immensely and will continue to watch out for work by Ms. Wilson.

It was nicely written tough I don't think it was at the same level as the others.

Finally done with this saga! Some parts sounded kind of stalling and repetitive but I loved the story. Wanted to know what happened to Mauriana at the end tho, maybe something between she and Galen? O.O
Loved the happily ever after at the end

I really enjoyed this series. The world building in particular was extremely well done and highly original. Characters and plot were great (sometimes the plot did divert into others subplots which did drag). But, the ending of this was not great. There was so many open endings and plots that were just solved to quickly. I wanted to find out what happens to Melliandra, Nicolene, and the babies they escaped with. Really hoping there will be a spin off book(s) to this series.
Trigger Warnings: violence, magical coercion, imprisonment, blood and gore, torment, body horror, and death
