Picked this up from a library display because my daughter loves hippos. The book is a bit young for both of my kids at this point but it was a fun read. There were jokes that made me laugh out loud. Got to discuss with my younger child about what it means to "wear many hats".

Lovely graphic novel about a hippo and red panda who leave their derelict zoo to get jobs in the human world. The hippo becomes a hippopotomister and learns new skills at each job. He later uses those skills to repair his zoo and build a place where he and a Red Panda can thrive.

Very cute! Probably could have been shorter and worked as a picture book, but it was just fine in its current state.

Love seeing more and more graphic novels for the early crowd. Fun story line and characters.

A funny graphic novel, perfect for younger elementary beginning graphic novel readers. Predictable, repeating structure that has a message that will resonate with older readers as well. Kids will laugh at Red Panda's unsuccessful attempts at jobs outside the zoo, while cheering for Hippo's wearing of many hats.

Pair with Ellie by Mike Wu or Extraordinary Warren by Sarah Dillard

A sweet adventure where one learns that all the crazy jobs one may have can be of use when it really counts.

Cute and colorful, this would be a great comic book for the younger elementary school set. Red Panda leaves the run down city zoo and comes back with stories of all of his amazing jobs. Hippo decides to join him on his adventures and, of course, learns all the skills he will need to revitalize the zoo. Adorable illustrations and lots of humor will make this a hit.

I just love younger grade friendly graphic novels and this one fits the bill! It’s easy to read with a very cute story line that kids of all ages will just love!
