Such a let down compared to the first book. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t like Cecelia.

4.5 stars. Book 2 was really funny because I already knew Molly and Weston, and I have to say that I adored Weston in this one. While he was definitely pretty much whipped/in love, whatever you want to call it, he was still an annoying boy. I laughed so hard out loud so many times during this book! Matthew was definitely fitting of the douchebag title that Ney's other series uses to describe its leading men. You'd start to think he was coming over to be a good guy, then out would pop the jerk again. There were definitely times I wanted to shake Cece a little, but that seems to happen a lot in romance books, so that's nothing bad. This one was definitely a lot different from the first book, in that was set in a high school, and this one is two people almost past what I'd consider even new adult, more just adult. But with the college aspect it could stay as a new adult level. And the amount of steam in it was definitely on the lower range, or should I say there just was less of it?

Weston and Matthew's friendship also cracked me up. I love how they interacted. The date that Matthew took Cece on to the hockey game and the players that came up and harassed him about it were cute. Definitely a page turner that I couldn't seem to stop reading! On to book 3!

This is more like a 3.5. I have been dying for the next book in the douchebag series, so I decided to check out her other books. I really liked Cecelia and Matthew. I thought it had a similar take with Matthew being a jerk, but I liked Cecelia dishing it right back. I thought the overall plot was better in some ways than the douchebag series like it had been edited better. But what ruined it was the build up to the kiss. It was just ridiculous for a couple who was in their young 20s, not teenagers. I liked Molly and Abby's characters, but both their books sound kind of boring. Maybe I'll just settle for waiting for the next book in the douchebag series to come out.

I hated this book

This is, by far, my least favorite Sara Ney book. To me, there is a lot of rambling and digression from the main story in the characters' internal monologue. They would be thinking of one thing and to off on a tangent like a toddler.
Cecelia was an OK character. And Matthew was a jerk. The first part of the story was boring. The middle part was great. It had me engaged, ands laughing at the banter as I watched Cece and Matthew circle each other. And then my rating plummeted again when Matthew becomes a massive douche and tells Cece that it's a dealbreaker if she won't ever want to give him a bj. And when she tells him what to do with himself he says, "I can find plenty of girls who will do it for me. In fact, I can think of a cheap dozen to call right now and finish what we started.” a couple of pages later she's basically forgiven him because he was sexually frustrated, and she thinks was kind of leading him on, which I think is a crock of bull.

And finally, I guess the author took artistic license or I misunderstood something, but all of this is happening in the late fall, early winter; which is when I believe Matthew would have already had to have gone back to LA for hockey season...which starts in October.

I hate giving bad reviews to books especially if they are written by an author that i like. I though this book was going to be a fun read with a cute love story.. but well i hated every character in it. The main characters were so immature , they were supposed to be 23 but they were acting like they were 15. So this is a no for me..
This book is avaiable on Kindle Unlimited

Cecelia and Matthew’s enemies to lovers story, the story is a slow burn, Matthew is a douchebag, but when he finally comes to his senses with Cecelia we know he has a heart. Cecelia on the other hand is confident, they face some twists, but they finally make the path to find their own romance. It was funny and sweet. Who doesn’t like a douchebag romance?

After meeting Matthew Wakefield quickly in Kissing In Cars, I was not a fan. What a complete jerk.

With He Kissed Me First being his story, I was hoping that it was just because we didn't know him that well that he came across as a giant douchecanoe.

Nope, I was wrong.

In fact, he was even more unlikable in He Kissed Me First than in the first book. He is a 23 year old man-boy. I swear I know 8 year olds who behave better than he did!

Cecilia - Molly's roommate, and the object of Matthew's obsession - well, I liked her at first but as the story progressed I found her actions just stupid.

Matthew should be on a stalker-watch-list. I mean, surely his NHL team would have issues with his behaviour? I wanted to call the police on him more than once on Cece's behalf!

And don't get me started on Matthew's friends - why Cece gave any of them a second chance is beyond me.

I can't tell you how many times I put this book aside because all their behaviours annoyed me. I thought Weston was bad in Kissing In Cars, but he has nothing on this lot!

I know I sound harsh, but jeepers these people! I wanted to throw my kindle across the room (or perhaps even at Matthew's head).

Things did get slightly better at the end of the story, but not enough to make me forgive past behaviours.

I do have the 3rd book to dive into soon - hopefully the characters are better behaved than this book!
