I hate shock value fictional literature like this. I admit that if you remove the shock value, there’s still a lot going on. But I just don’t see the point of using violence as a device like this… there are other ways of making a point.

brutal, but its striking how much of this piece consists of characters sitting quietly and uncomfortably between moments of extreme violence. seems like a difficult play to direct. i wonder what it would look like.
