The volume heavily focuses on what happened to Monster Girl and Robot in the Flaxan's home planet. I was interested to see how that was going to play out, but unfortunately was one of those heavily guarded disappointments. They stayed for centuries there, they discover loneliness, then they find each other again. There is so much wasted potential to actually understand the relationship between Amanda and Rex, all clouded by the world conquering, light politics, that we fail as readers to get the depths of their connection, bummer.

Easily one of the best arcs in Invincible history. And there was barely any Mark. The Robot and Monster Girl Flaxan story is incredibly well written. Plus, I forgot the twist, so that was a pleasant surprise again. It was like I read it for the first time again. The choice to have the original artist and the longtime artist do the arc together was such a nice touch.

So , disclaimer , I am writing this review via my Tab and this is a shiny new thing , ergo I am not used to this keyboard , so there may well be some spelling and other errors here .
I'll say this was more of a 3.5 star book , the simple reason being , this volume didn't really have much of invincible , it had the bit where invincible is not literally invincible anymore , and some backstory about the man now donning the invincible mantle .
But mainly the book was about the Robot and Monster girl lost years , it was a fascinating story and the reason for their separation was finally explained , and while it did showcase a dark side to Robot , it definitely didn't paint him as the one being in wrong in the duo's relationship
There were also plenty of Semi nude characters and I am thinking why is this fan service needed exactly . Also i felt cheated to see the viltrumite and Dinosaurs storyarcs being deviated from .
Either ways still a solid issue . Imagine , another solid issue after being at the 17th volume . If that doesn't make you want to read this, I don't know what will.
