This is such a sweet book (I couldn’t resist). It’s about an event planner who is put in charge of a horror authors book launch. The author thinks the event planner is silly and the event planner is wondering how she will go from planning weddings to a horror book launch, on Halloween none the less.

I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters. You can instantly tell they are attracted to each other so it’s a will they or won’t they get together book. It follows a standard comedy romance storyline but it well worth the read. It’s a light book that will pull you in. I found myself imagining the scenes because the writing is so descriptive.

Kate, an event planner, dubbed the Queen of Happily Ever Afters has been hired to help with the book launch for Drake Matthews next book. It's not her normal gig, but it will be a great opportunity to show what's she's really capable of. While Drake will always be grateful for his fans and what he's accomplished with his books, but he's honestly a little tired of the spotlight and his reputation as the Knight of Nightmares. Neither of them really expected the spark of attraction they feel, and Drake really didn't expect the spark of inspiration Kate has ignited. It's taking his writing in a direction no one would ever think to imagine, but maybe it's exactly what he needs.

The fall vibes of this book are seriously fantastic. Set in the month of October you've got fall festivals, pumpkin carving contests, and Halloween, you can't find a sweeter romance to read at this time of year. I loved the entire atmosphere of this book.

Kate and Drake were really fun characters. I loved their meet disaster and I love how their entire relationship developed throughout the course of the entire book. I love the way they fell for each other and how they both really wanted to keep things professionally, which resulted in them building a really nice friendship first. I love how the two of them supported each other and just wanted to other person to accomplish all of their goals. I love how they both understood the nature of their jobs, and I love how they communicated their concerns about all of it. I also really loved how the conflict was resolved between them.

This was a great book and I so happy to have gone back to read the first book in this series. Dylan Newton is definitely an author I will be following.

I enjoyed the autumn vibes. It was unrealistic and the use of “knight of nightmares” and “queen of happily ever afters” was extremely overused.

A wonderful laugh out loud rom-com, perfect to curl up with under a blanket with a cup of tea or stretched out on the beach. Event planner Kate Sweet is famous for making the perfect happy ever after's for her clients. Somehow Kate is roped into organizing a bestselling horror writers new book launch party and from the moment she meets Drake Matthews her life is plunged into chaos. Highly recommend for some wonderful, pure escapism.

I really enjoyed the second novel in the Matthew's Brothers series (All Fired Up), so I knew I had to go back and start from the beginning with How Sweet It Is. I am a huge fan of Dylan Newton's writing, and this was such a fun and lighthearted romcom which I was definitely in the mood for. I think it would be great as a movie, and to me, it was the quintessential storyline for a romance. Girl meets boy, they start falling in love, something happens to break them apart, but in the end, it all works out. There are lots of funny moments that had me laughing out loud, and I loved Kate Sweet as well as her friendship with Imani. The banter between Kate and Drake was flirty and fun, and it is undeniable they had great chemistry.

The audiobook was a lot of fun as well for this book, and I loved Max Lloyd-Jones & Eva Tavares as Drake and Kate. There were subtle touches for the text messages scattered throughout, but besides that, it was just plain ole good narration. I will never again call an event planner a party planner (thank you Kate 🤣), and it was a great combo to have an event planner be planning a horror writer's book launch party. I really loved that Drake was a horror writer, and that was an interesting aspect of the storyline as well as the romance he is writing on the side. If you are an avid romance reader there might not be anything new for you, but there is just a touch of steam which is what I like, and nonstop cuteness making this a perfect pick for me.
