You think that we would have gotten the point of Oz already, but no, there has to be about a million books with the same plot to drive the point home

Not bad but not all that good either. The writing is better than the earlier books but it is definitely not up to the quality of the last few. Which is probably not surprising since this is apparently a retread of an earlier book. This one definitely follows a formula, perhaps the next will be better again.

I liked this one, but of all the characters that appeared in this book, Tik-Tok might have been in it the least. It's completely unclear why this book was named after him. I really thought this was going to be his origin story, which I was super pumped about! While I was mildly disappointed about that, this book ended up being sort of what The Road to Oz should have been, and after that let down, I was pleased to finally see an actual battle of some sort!

So many inconsistencies with the rest of the Oz books.

Continuing the tradition of reading Oz books aloud with my husband whenever we're traveling (whoever isn't driving gets to read). Gotta say, not too impressed with this one. Baum completely disregards continuity, and the title is fairly nonsensical given that Tik-Tok features so little in the book. Still enjoyable because I have such affection for the Oz books, and the scene discussing why Toto doesn't talk makes the whole book worth reading.
