The shock from how the first chapter ended was really something.

The ending was concluded well in my opinion.

This book was dark and fucked up and the twists and different points of view were really eye opening

some loose ends left but the ending was still wild and wrapped up the book in a clear (yet really fucked) way.

What the fuck! Lmao!

This was fine. Cool concept. Kind of lost interest and felt not much after, but still liked reading. I am so scared of children.

Each chapter is told from the perspective of a new character, and while usually that's a neat narrative tool, in Confessions each chapter just ends up rehashing the same information we've learned in Chapter 1. You can only re-read the same information so many times before it feels incredibly tedious.

This was so good! Like wow I’m totally impressed by this book and would wholeheartedly recommend it. I can’t say much about the plot without spoilers but basically two of Yuko’s students killed her daughter in a suspected ‘accident’ and this is the story of her revenge… and the aftermath of it. Minato splits the book up into chapters from different people’s perspectives and various formats too which I absolutely loved, it’s so engaging and hard to put it down. The prose is somewhat basic and brutally honest but the actual story is rather convoluted and very complex. Things are unveiled throughout with some shocking parts that place it in the thriller genre (one I’m not very acquainted with) but there’s many a passage on life, relationships and emotions pushing it into the literary genre too. The characters aren’t likeable but do have a lot of complexity to them which is great and in many ways I didn’t want it to end to get other perspectives too… very bingeable despite the horrific nature of the contents in parts. I was totally enthralled and gripped by Confessions and cannot wait to read more by Minato, and watch the movie adaptation too.
