This one wins points for not having a prolonged flashback to Utah for half the book, as well as namedropping the Ballarat goldfields.

It loses points for the murderer being an
SpoilerEra typical racists caricature of a very, very short cannibalistic indigenous person
and not a
Spoilermonkey, like I'd thought.

Zips along at a good pace but far less compelling than I had expected. Certainly well written, and I'll keep checking out the series when I have the time.

Eh, was kinda uninterested in this one. I didn’t like the criminal’s backstory whatsoever.
