Da Vinci more like Don’t Vinci
Once again the only female main character has to be younger than our male protagonist and end up being the love interest by the end. She has to be beautiful and clever but not as witty or charming as the MC because this is basically a self-insert of the author’s fantasy of being taken seriously by younger women.
Do we really have to sexualise her right away, Dan? Can you write a single woman without talking about her body the moment we meet her?

honestly super interesting and fun! very quick paced but i feel like that was a negative sometimes. every time i’d be stressed or there would be major stakes i felt like it got solved so quickly …which i guess is the point since sir leigh was behind it all … anyways the ending felt wrapped up too nicely tbh like where was the lessons learned? and i didn’t really like sophie and langdon ending up together like fr? we can’t let a woman just find her family and be jesus’ lost lost descendent wo needing the mc man get some puss??? FR????

I've seen the movie multiple times, which definitely colored my reading of the book, but a friend lent it to me so I decided, why not? Overall a fun story. Some parts didn't age well, mainly just the sexualizing of the one female character who was given a speaking role and wasn't a nun. Like I don't need a description of how physically attractive she is when first meeting her, and it definitely didn't need to be repeated once already said. Other than that, fun, pretty easy read.
