I read this because it is a classic, a feminist one even.
And although I did like the writing style I was disappointed by the ending.
I understand that Alcott was heavily influenced by her society's standards but even though she says "Love is better than money",... she also promotes that all women have to find love and that the men are there to guide the women and so on.
The first half was good, although the canon was "You should be quiet and peaceful and do things for others".  I loved that the girls were allowed to go after their various interests and were shielded from the whole marriage thing which is definitely a point for their parents.
I have not read enough novels to say if she was feministic for her time period, just compared to today it's, thankfully, outdated.
So, in the end, I would only recommend this if you want to know what society looked like for freer women on that time period.
