This book brings us to the end of the long journey that Brian and Jamie have been on. They've both gone through so much, grown so much. It's been an honor and a pleasure to follow them through everything.

It took me a day and a night to write this review because it was a very emotional end of the series for me. I'm very happy that the series ended so beautifully but I'm also very sad that the wonderful reading experience is over. I've read the whole series back to back in just two weeks (which is pretty fast for me because english is not my native language). I've fallen in love with Brian and Jamie and it made me a Barnaby fan.

In the last book of the series Jamie is reunited with his father and is working to get his life back in order. He's fighting his addiction and has to learn to love himself, forgive himself and trust himself before he starts fighting to get Brian back. I love how Jamie developed in this book and how his journey ended here. The book is told by Jamie but for the epilog Brian is back as the narrator. It's like a circle is closed here. A wonderful, beautiful ending of the whole series - and a happy one. Often I don't trust happy endings but in this series it's believable, natural.

As for the whole series: JP Barnaby has created some wonderful and real characters. I've witnessed their growth, their emotional journey, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was a tough and heartbreaking read sometimes, it made me laugh, cry, angry and it made me happy. Jamie and Brian became real for me somehow and I know I will miss them. Goodbye Jamie and Brian!

I highly recommend the series!

I can finally breathe easier when I think about Jamie and Brian, although the path to the end of this book was almost as rough as the ones that came before it. This whole series needs to be read as one continuous arc, and it is well worth the time.

This story will make you ache and worry. You'll want to smack both the guys occasionally, but not nearly as often as you'll just want to hold them and make the world start treating them better.
Spoiler Finding out how their whole lives could have been different if Jamie's dad had been the one to pick up the phone instead of his mom is acutely painful. I did also appreciate that Jamie was left with longterm consequences from his brush with death, rather than unrealistically healed.
A fitting and satisfying end to an emotionally powerful series.
