If I haven't said it before, let me just say that I LOVE Emily Mcintire's books! I think I'll be reading anything that she writes. I absolutely loved Yasmin and Julian/their relationship! And I adore how Emily ties so many Easter eggs from the story she was inspired by (in this case Aladdin) throughout her books! I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves modern fairytale retellings/inspired books.

Tropes/Vibes:
• Age-Gap Romance
• Dad's Best Friend
• Enemies-to-Lovers
• Aladdin Retelling 🧞‍♂️
• Forced Marriage/Marriage of Convenience
• People Pleaser MFC
• "My Wife"
• "Good Girl"
• Touch Her and 💀

Micro-Trope:
• He fixes her plate for her
and I LOVED it 🥰🤣

Loved this story! It’s a slow burn romance, enemies to lovers, age gap with a protective “touch her and die” MMC. The MMC had a rough childhood that leads to a heart of ice which get melted away by the daughter of his business partner. A girl he should not learn to love but does after a forced marriage.

I just couldn’t keep reading, it was so cheesy and so many plot holes. I also made the mistake of getting the Audible version which made it even worse. Yasmin is literally a spoiled brat and they portray her as a “valley girl” and the added crap about the photography was ridiculous. The character had no depth and I just couldn’t stand her anymore. I read about half way through the book hoping something good was going to happen to want me to keep reading but it was just way too slow.

I need to stop reading these books because they’re clearly not my vibe
