This novella is a follow up to what occurred in Blue Moon. Josh was left in a state of suspended animation or "death sleep" following the pack's interaction with the evil witches. This novella spends its time with fixing Josh.

This series has lacked a set of outside characters. Blue Moon did a good job bringing in the Holloway mom, and Jess's sister. The sister has a bigger role in this book which is nice. There needs to be more contrast with the pack members and non-members. I also really liked the reveal of more information of Sean and Jess's past. The author does a great job of this giving bits and pieces with each new book.

I also enjoyed Jem's exploration of her witch side and I'd like to see more of what she can do in future novels/novellas.

Overall, this is a good ".5" novella to follow up Blue Moon and hold readers over to the next installment. The series seems to be improving as it goes, so I look forward to future books.

MY REVIEW
I received an E-Arc from J Taylor Publishing in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I have already done comments on the cover when I was part of the Cover Reveal but will do a little re-cap and see if my opinion has changed any since reading the book.
This is a series of books I read and love. So the byline says "Guilt is a heavy burden" it certainly is, and the phrase instantly attracts you to the book and makes you want to know more. Like who is guilty? Why are they guilty? Should they be guilty? And now I've read the novella? I think the byline is referring to Jem, who really shouldn't feel guilty, but I can't say more as if you haven't read Blue Moon yet, I may slip and give a spoiler or two. As you know I love a byline and the one on the cover of this book really fits well. Jem is feeling guilty. . . she feels responsible for every single member of her pack, so she will do what ever she has to in order to keep them all well and together.
We have more of Jem's family heritage mentioned in this book and the conformation of who Jess was in a past life, though that was something I had kind of taken for granted already really. I love all the pack related parts in the books, but in this one a different area is looked at, that I have to say I really enjoyed learning more about. The slightly different track this novella goes down makes it stand out a little from the others so far in the series . . is that a good thing? I think so...not that i'll ever ever be bored with the pack! I think this different track is adding even more to the books. We are also learning more about the other pack members, such as Ethan perhaps having a soft spot for Jess. . . which I'd love to see happen. Maybe Jess's children have some sort of "power" ?
I think I have said it before, but I'll say it again, these books do remind me of Kelley Armstrong's Women Of The Otherworld Series, which for me is a good thing as I also love that series too.
So did I enjoy the novella? Yes! Would I recommend? Yes! Read and savour this brilliant writing and storytelling in the order intended by the Author. Will I read more of the Series? Definitely! Would I read other work by J.A. Belfield? I have and I loved that too....in fact I'd love her to make that novella part of a series too.
Last thing to say? I love, love, love the Holloway Pack! I love the whole pack (you know how usually there's maybe one character you are not so keen on, not this pack!)I also love Jess too and am looking forward to learning more about her.

If you haven't started this series yet, seriously try and avoid reading that description! And don't start the series with Resonance. You will definitely be spoiled if you read this one first. :P

That being said, Resonance was a fantastic novella! There was a great plot that was tied together nicely, but also left me seriously anxious for more. The things that Jem experienced in this one were really different from what she's faced in the other books, and I'm interested to see how these new developments will pop up in future Holloway Pack books! :D

As always, Jem and Sean were as awesome as ever, and their chemistry and banter kept me riveted. If you can't tell, I'm trying to avoid giving you any spoilers, but if you're a Holloway Pack fan, you'll love Resonance...and it will leave you desperate for more. :P

Resonance was an amazing novella, and makes a welcome addition to the Holloway Pack series! While I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone, if you have read the previous books, I would definitely suggest getting your hands on a copy! And if you haven't started this series yet, and you love werewolf stories, you really need to get your hands on Darkness and Light, the first Holloway Pack book!

If you still need more prompting, you will love this book if you're a fan of paranormal stories, especially if you like sexy leading men and fierce heroines. You also won't mind the additional eye candy that the rest of the Holloway pack provides. ;) And if you're a werewolf fan, you need to start this series as soon as possible! It's one you really don't want to miss! :D
