After the last book in this series I was worried the quality had dropped off. It didn’t feel like the Orphan X books I’ve come to love, this one is quintessential X.
Fast paced , quilt dialogue. Lots of X and Joey interactions, bonus Candy reappearance.
Loved it!

The Orphan X series continues on with another mission for The Nowhere Man. This time to bring down a man who has the US government tied in knots but is this really a case for X? There are two dead people and a grieving family so maybe.
This is another good Orphan X instalment with lots of twists and plenty of action. The action scenes are very well written and you run the gauntlet with Evan.
I felt like there was a little too much description of the places Evan is in this rime round, you lost the pace of the story as you get tied up having lamps, wallpaper, carpets and furniture being over described. Hurwitz has also never spent time with teenagers as Joey felt like a caricature of a stereotypical teenage girl, the language was off, the sarcasm missed every single time, and unless he can pull it back, Joey could be a ruined character.
Overall, not bad. Will I read the next book? High probability that I will.

I love this series and this book just took it up a notch. Evan is always one step ahead of anyone hunting for them. Except as he has allowed himself some human connections and made a mistake. The government that has been tracking him, finally catches him and makes a demand.
I love how Evan is always evolving in the series. He has a softer side that peeks out. Candy and Joey make a difference in this one and add some humor to an action packed and often tense read. And Tommy may just be my favorite character of the series. He does such a great job of just being a kid and in that bringing out Evan's more compassionate side.
Scott Brick narrates this one and as one of my favorite narrators, he lives up to that praise. He does the voices, the tense and fight scenes, and the wry humor well.
