This was a little hard for me to get into, mostly because I'm not really used to the sheer amount of description that this author writes with (it was actually one of the reasons I dnf his other book TikTok). Once I got comfortable with that it was a pretty good, and moved pretty quickly.
Without spoilers-I thought it ended a bit quickly after all the build up, and a few of the "creepy" elements ended up being less so when revealed (personal preference).
With Spoilers -
Even after the reveal of "it's a dream" I thought the teacher was cartoonishly angry and mean outside of the Dream World, which was sort of jarring, and I was a bit dissatisfied that the Pax war story line at the beginning didn't really have much to do with the main story except to maybe introduce him so it seemed less weird later on to have his pov used.
The overall story felt like the author's love letter to fiction writers, which was nice but the ending makes me wonder if this is part of a larger group of books/series when I thought it'd be a standalone.
