Helpful if you want info on the series, but otherwise useless. The best thing here, though, and why it deserves four stars, is its inclusion of the pilot story.

The pilot was definitely interesting. Except for the eraser thing, that one didn't add anything to the plot.

A brilliant companion to read after the Death Note series. It contains lots of facts regarding the series. It was very enjoyable.

This is an interesting book to read if you're an avid fan of the series. It isn't something light that can be read in the span of a day, because there's a lot of information and of course all it does is give background information. It's interesting to see where Ohba came up with all the little ideas for everything, but I was sort of bummed that a lot of his reasons were "it must have tied in with something else," or "I just chose it randomly." I wish there had been more of a reasoning behind it, although that's just a personal preference and doesn't change how much I loved the series.

Death Note is the first series of mangas that I read when I was a bit younger. I really got into it from the start, the main characters, Light Yagami and L are just so brilliant. It was catchy to read and really hard to put down. The story line is well thought out and is very interesting to follow. I recommend this series to anyone who has never read mangas, it's a really good place to start! I also recommend it to anyone who already loves mangas and is looking for something new: this is a good place to continue!

Pros; The Death Note series is finally over.
You learn a sprinkling of interesting facts.
Bonus content featuring Ryuk and other shinigamis.
Cons; Endlessly repetitively for a final book intended for people who have completed the series.
Both author and illustrator saying something along the lines of 'I don't know how to write/draw women', come on guys it's a different gender not a different species.
Overall I would say the Death Note series had an interesting concept that was let down by the execution (ha) that seems to drag out with the only purpose being to reach 108 chapters.
