Knowing that The Audacity of Hope was published in 2006 and reading it in 2021 gives this book an extra shade of dramatic irony. That being said, the content has aged well and is still shockingly relevant. This book is like a history and current events lesson from Professor Obama whose hope, pride, and love is infectious.

I thought it was about time I took a closer look at Obama on paper. The book is essentially an introduction to his ideas on major issues which ultimately form his platform. No big surprises here-it's broad, articulate, well considered and comes across as honest. He'd still have my vote...if I could vote.

My local library had this book as an ipod download (along with ipods to check out!) so I enjoyed listening to Barack narrate the book himself. He shares stories from his family, faith journey and early career. His balanced insights and thoughtful ideas for addressing the ills of our society made me a believer. He's got my vote.

Outlines a path to an idyllic, exceptional world. Reawakens hope during particularly dark, disconcerting times. I adore this past president’s sentiments.

I hate it when I get through an audiobook only to find that it was the abridged version. On the positive side, the president does have a good voice and seems very familiar with the material. Clearly this was a campaign message outlining what he saw were the problems and possible solutions. If all you know of Barack Obama is through the media, I would suggest this book.
