Not what I was expecting

After seeing the cover, I was expecting a bit of different story. I didn’t hate the story, but I didn’t love it. I finished it because it was short. I am not familiar with the author, I feel like she’s got the talent as an author for sure, and she will get better. The story was good, the world building was lacking a bit. Again, it was a short book so the pacing was quick. The cover is just really misleading. There were zero “monsters” in the book. The “plan” that her super old, super amazing and strong and brilliant men came up with is so stupid it hurt me to pretend and go along with it. I feel like for that detail alone I sacrificed a lot of brain cells and am now overall stupider (<~ see I am making up words). The author put their time and energy into this book and I hate being really critical. If I could speak to the author I would say please change the cover, it doesn’t represent the female lead, and it’s a big stretch to say it represents one of her men. I know what man it’s supposed to be so there is a bit of a connection but with this book as a whole as written there is ZERO connection. So I feel a tiny bit tricked. I waited for a monster and never got one!

I enjoyed reading it. I can't wait to read more about the relationship between Raven, North, Cain, and Kiara.

There is no better way to start the year than with one of Sadie's books.

In the new series we meet Kiara and her men. With a fast paced action, witty dialogue and steamy interactions, Bound to the Dark is an amazing start of a series.

Looking forward to the new book ❤️

The sex was fun. I liked the mild sass and strong determination of the main character. However, the book was extremely short, with a cliff-hanger ending. The love interests were...well, interesting, but not fully fleshed out. Their relationship was a bit forced and her thoughts on the situation were super repetitive, which became a bit annoying. The premise had a lot of promise, but wasn't fully realized due to the abrupt ending. Although I did like it, I don't think I'll finish this series. I just never had time to get attached to the characters enough for a commitment for the subsequent books. Plus, I just really hate cliff-hangers-like, just make the book a bit longer; there was no reason to cut it so short.

Not a single other female character besides the main character.
Not one. Bechdel test failed with honours sadly.
