Fun and short, with a strong female main character and a wagonload of books. Released in 1917, this is Morley's first book. My only minor complaint is the last few chapters, which come all in a rush and are a bit fantastic. The sequel is not well regarded, so I won't rush to find it. Recommended!

Rather a fun read. Harriet Grayson was a governess and when her brother took up farming she moved in with him and ran the farmhouse, chickens, etc. Then her brother began to write and pay less attention to the farm duties and she had rather more to deal with. One day the Professor turns up and says he wants to sell his bookstore on wheels to her brother and retire to write his own book.. Her brother is gone on an errand and she is afraid he will buy it and be off, leaving her with the farm in worse shape. So she decides to buy it herself and when she gets far enough away to sell it and head home. But she finds she enjoys selling books with the Professor and is enjoying her escapade while her brother is certain she has been kidnapped and has people searching for her.

I love this little book with my whole heart. Helen is a character! And she is determined to have an adventure selling books via a little van pulled by Peg.

I think everyone should read this classic. It will just make you laugh and feel good about the world.
