this was a poor effort from the author to try and drag this on. this should never become paperback. rather suitable as an ebook.

Goes name by name of every character who didn't die in the books to tell what happened to them. Don't buy this book, rent it from the library and enjoy. It was nice to have extra bows tied up with characters to see what happened. Glad I listened to it.

Why isn't zero stars an option? This is not the type of book you buy online. I was expecting chapters. Instead there is one or two sentences per page, each page describing the epilogue for a different character. 195 pages of shitty characters you didn't care about in the first place. When it arrived in the mail, one glance told me it was marketing bullshit designed to illicit even more money from fans already angry at a disappointing end to the series. Don't buy this book. No online, not in real life. Don't even borrow it. The interesting content could have easily been covered in a two paragraph blog post. In lieu of such generosity I'll share the best of the worst here.
** SPOILER ALERT**
All the characters either live happily ever after, or die tragically. It's not just a synopsis of the next two-three years. It's till death do us part. The exception is Barry the Bell Boy where "we may hear more about the rest of his life". Barry? Really? Of all the interesting characters she chooses Barry to live on. What about Hunter? Surely he's the character we are all more invested in to see him grow up in the literary world. But no, Hunters story ends in the military as a super spy using his ability to interrogate. He embraces his disability thanks to the support of his two cousins who also have the gift. One of Jason's two kids, a dumb blonde girl who worked at a dog food factory, and one of Sookies four kids she had with Sam. Sookie and Sam married after two years, expanded their business and at retirement went to Thailand for a holiday. Being Australian, whoop-de-fuckin-do, Thailand is a budget holiday here. What a lousy boring life. Niall invited them to live in fairyland when they died, which they are still mulling over. Eric sent them expensive wedding China and devoted himself completely to his wife and got rich. Bill became a tool who made violent vampire games and also got rich. Tara had some boring ending I can't even remember...oh, that's right, JB cheated on her a lot so she divorced him and she opened a bridal shop. The rest of the ever afters aren't worth a mention, trust me on this.

Ugh, that took less than half an hour. Review to come, if I can summon the will.
Edit: One of the most disgusting, money-grubbing ploys I've seen in literature.
I want to be very clear. I borrowed After Dead from my library's ebook program. It was not worth the library’s funds to send it to me. It was not worth the .00001% of my internet bill that downloading it cost me. It was certainly not worth the 27 minutes, (including two refreshes because the page froze,) that it took to read. And I thought Dead Ever After was unsatisfying.
By the time I got to the first entry in this glorified appendix, my ebook informed me that I was already 16% done with the book. The table of contents alone is 10%. (The hardcover is 202 pages, which means 20 PAGES of this book is the table of contents.) Pretty much every character, minor or not, who’s still alive at the end of the 13th book is included in an alphabetical list. Each letter has a full page illustration in the original cover styles. They look fine, but that’s another 26 pages that don’t actually contain any writing. The final looks range from single sentences, (my favorite is “HANK CLEARWATER contracted gonorrhea”,) to a whole two and a half pages for Sookie.
Sadly, poor Hank’s fate is typical for the fare in this...novel? Pretty much every character is described as having a rocky relationship, divorce, tragic death, or personal disappointments. I know that’s how real life works, but the realism ship sailed approximately six words into Dead Until Dark. I don’t need to know Jane Bodehouse died falling off a toilet. It feels like Harris is tired of her biggest series, (no secret that she’s been done for several books,) and is torturing the characters and the fans out of spite.
Three points are all that kept me from giving this abomination zero stars:
I was actually wondering where Bubba ended up.
Kevin and Kenya finally got together and nothing bad happened.
Tah-dah!
And some points why this trash deserves no stars:
Amelia and Bob (used to be a cat) had a son Felix (cat) who grew up to work with big cats. Cats. Also they got divorced.
Tara and JB get divorced after he cheats. He dies in his nursing home having sex with an orderly.
“JOHN QUINN had many more adventures.”
“BARRY (HOROWITZ) BELLBOY... We may hear more about the rest of his life.”
“HUNTER SAVOY … He had many adventures after that.”
Get the picture? (At least Barry and Hunter got some bio. That is literally all there is for Quinn.) If you want to write spin-off series, great, but then don’t include them in this book. It’s cheap. And, I’m one of the few who liked Quinn and not even I want to see a party planning weretiger series. Terrible ideas.
Terry and his new wife die in a car accident. You monster.
JASON DROPS DEAD AT FIFTY-FIVE, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Don’t buy After Dead. It’s misery porn. There can’t be more than three thousand actual words. It’s a cheap cash in. It’s terrible.

Jason’s daughter marries Hoyte’s son. (Even though they’re both dumb as posts and she got pregnant out of wedlock while working at a dog food factory before hand.)I was actually wondering where Bubba ended up.

Dont BUY this book. Borrow it or read it in the store. Disappointing and not worth the price. Not worth even one star. I loved the series but this is ridiculous.

A REALLY comprehensive A-Z of what happened to each character. Maybe Harris got lucky that most of the major characters have names towards the end of the alphabet?
I was pleased with how everyone was described. Not everyone had happy endings...this must have been hard to write.
Also. Is it just me, or do Quinn and Barry Bellboy seem to be teasers? Is there something more to come that's just about them?

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a good job. This update did not translate well to audio and it was like the narrator was just reading a list of names and where they are now.

It's fun to see where the cast of characters in The Southern Vampire Mysteries ended up, how they lived, and with some, how they died.

It was good, but I guess I was just expecting a little more drama, not a happily ever after.. Also, she made it sound like maybe Barry and Quinn would get spin-offs, maybe even Hunter. Saying there were 'Many more adventures' makes it sound like she doesn't want to give things away.. And I haven't looked or anything so maybe she is doing spin-offs and I don't even know it. Haha :P

The only eve rafters I really cared about were Eric, Alcide, and Sookie. But she screwed them up so badly I wish I could unread this and go back to my imagined endings. Nice sentiment, but bad execution.
