I really really loved this. The supernatural world is so fun and nostalgic with references to things we’ve all read about in stories. Amari is a great main character in that she doesn’t fall into “chosen one” tropes even though she totally could. And the story has a really great message of standing up for yourself and not judging anyone before you get to know them!

Amari and the Night Brothers is just as magical as Amari Peters herself. A supernatural mystery involving a missing brother, an evil magician, and summer camp tryouts. And at the centre of it all, Amari Peters, a young Black girl from a rough neighbourhood that's about to shake the world. A fantastic middle-grade fantasy with explosive action and amazing worldbuilding that leaves me hungry for a sequel.
