Struggled to enjoy the characters but the writing and world building was fantastic. Would like to read more from this author with a different story.

This book had me in a choke hold. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down and read it all in one sitting. Now this is a dark romance and has some TW/CW that should be read before picking this up. I was intrigued from the start with the sci-fi world with its mafia members, royalty, and tech. I wanted to know more from the first page. The characters took a minute to grow on me but by the end I was in love with them. I can't wait to read the next books in this series!

Rabbit is a prodigy musician who faces numerous challenges in this book, and Baikal Void is one of them. At least, that's how it starts. Baikal, a mafia royalty, sets his sights on Rabbit and decides to have him as his lover.

Let me tell you this. This story is not for the faint of heart because it deals with heavily traumatic themes. As Rabbit's mother abused him his entire life so much he started to have what he loved, he didn't have any friends to what she would do to them. Other than that, Baikal enters Rabbit's life and begins to exert his influence over Rabbit, forcing him to do things against his will. Despite being a mafia prince, Baikal is shown to be considerate towards Rabbit and his traumatic experiences. Although he is sometimes pushy with Rabbit, Baikal still listens to him and tries to help him heal and overcome his trauma. One of Rabbit's fears is being in the dark, while Baikal is a shadow user. However, Baikal listens to Rabbit and helps him overcome his fear by being patient and supportive. This shows that despite their differences, Baikal cares for Rabbit and wants to help him heal.
The main characters, Rabbit and Baikal, are well-written and their traumas are explored deeply in the book. The author does a great job of portraying their emotions and thoughts, making them feel like real people. The reader is able to understand their struggles and empathize with them throughout the story. One thing that stood out to the reader is how Rabbit and Baikal interacted with each other differently compared to how they interacted with other characters. The author wrote about their interactions in a way that highlighted their unique connection, making it feel authentic and genuine. It added an extra layer of depth to their characters and made the story more compelling.
The romance between Rabbit and Baikal was not instant, but it developed slowly throughout the book. This allowed for a more realistic and authentic portrayal of their relationship.
The book features some steamy scenes that are well-written and add to the overall story. While they may not be suitable for all readers, they were a good addition for those who enjoy romantic and erotic scenes in a dark romance novel.

Do I recommend this book: I would recommend this book to those who are interested in dark romance and are comfortable with reading about challenging and emotionally intense topics
