This dragged quite a bit. The boat was a bit of a slog (tbf it was for the passengers too...)
I understand it's exploring the world and providing background for plots that will presumably come along in later books.

This book is not as good as the first, in part because I find any time characters spend in a ship a torture* to read, and since a good chunk of this book is spent filling a naval story bingo card you can guess how interested I was.
After that, they get to China and things get boring. Honestly, I don't know how I'll muster the interest to read the next book, even though I'm pretty invested in Temeraire's quest for dragon rights.
* Yes, even Moby Dick. Don't @ me.

WTH happened? Throne of Jade was missing all of the things that made me fall in love in this series. No human/dragon bonding, no ... anything interesting. It was all war and politics. *snore*
Honestly I would rather go and wax my pelvic area then continue reading. (It would certainly be more enjoyable and exciting.)
