The whole thing is just a ridiculous, light-hearted romp. I read Gilbert Lawall's 1988 edition, which includes annotations and vocabulary lists and all sorts of academic stuff. There isn't a complete English translation, because this is a student's version, but I'm sticking it on my translation shelf because I had to translate it parts of it for Latin class a million years ago.
