This is Jase and Brenna's book. There are so many good moments in this book. Jase is still a typical Kayrs male with all his bossy, Alpha tendencies toward his mate Brenna. I like how Brenna was able to twist his nature a bit because she is so sweet. Her character really softens Jase. I love how each of the main characters have an ornery, sarcastic side to them as well. This trait gives the reader some real laugh out loud scenes. The battle that Jase is having with his recovery makes this book a little darker than the previous books in this series and his internal dialogue can be monotonous in some places that slows the pace of the book somewhat. However, the side characters really shine and make the reader excited about the next in series. High five for Garrett, Zane, and Janie! This is a good bridging novel for the epic conclusion.

More like 4 1/2. Good characters and a good plot. I'm going to be sad when I get to the end of the overall plot that threads through this. It's been a good run. Although I know she has a spinoff so I'll have to read those as well.

I had know from the moment Jase Kayrs met Breanne Dunne, that they would have an HEA. They just made sense...but it has been a long time (4 books) to get here.

It's been five years since the Kayrs brothers rescued their baby brother Jase from the demons, and Jase is still messed up. The torture and mind games has left him perpetually angry and unfortunately, powerless.
Jase was the brother who had control over water elements and since his release, his powers do not work.

Breanne Dunne, who had also been been kidnapped by the demons, is dying because they forced her to drink planekite, which is poisonous to witches. She has been given less than six months to live until her aunt Vivian comes with a brilliant plan. Mate with a vampire, and gain the immortality that comes with the mating.

Jase volunteers because mating would allow him to share Breanne's gifts as a witch and he can use it to get revenge against the Demons who held him prisoner for five years.

The only problem is that Breanne wants what her older sister Moira has with Jase's older Brother Conn--LOVE. A classic case of Revenge or Love, which is more important.

I really enjoyed this book as I knew I would. This series gets better and better. Alpha males with strong capable females, definitely lots of fireworks. There was a little movement on the plot, not much, as we approach the final showdown with Kalin, Janie and Zane. At least know we know a little more about Zane. And the vampires and witches have a stronger understanding.

I didn't give this book a 5 because after all that build up about Breanne's power, other than saving Janie, I wasn't that impressed. I kind of expected her to cure world hunger, create world peace etc. She didn't even find the cure to the virus. So I felt let down a tad. Plus, Janie never got the witches book of prophecy and it seemed really important. so what's up with that?

The romance and "healing" both physically and emotionally was so nicely done though. So I was pleased. All the Kayrs men have put their markings on someone. Alright!!!!

I don't know who the next full novel will be on, but I can't wait. I suppose it has to be the Janet Kayrs show as she should be the age of prophecy.

Everyone should give this series a try!

A damaged vampire mates a dying witch in order to save her, and to restore the abilities he lost. He was sexy, charming flirt, but after 5 years of torture, he's now angry and vengeful (but still sexy). She's sweet, kind and brilliant and doesn't take his shit. Their romance is an emotional one, he has so many demons to fight  (literally), but she's with him all the way.

They go through a *lot* together, which turns the relationship of necessity into one of love. She heals him with her patience and tenderness, and he tries so hard to be better for her. And also, sheet-burning steam alert! 🥵 The external plot with the war is great, and there're doses of humor to balance the angst. And the brother/sisterhood remains one of the best part of these books.

Summary
Brenna, a witch has been suffering from a poison she consumed and has slowly been killing her. Without the cure or a mate, she will die and she only has weeks left. Brenna knows that she is weakening and only one man can save her, Jase Kayrs. Jase was held captive and tortured by the demons for five long years, and he still is recovering. He was once easy-going and jovial, but not is volatile and dangerous. Jase gives Brenna an offer, mate with him and have the chance to live, or she will die. Brenna knows that she doesn’t have a choice but to mate with Jase, a dangerous vampire, but a man she knows that is out for revenge and will do anything to destroy the demons. Soon Brenna and Jase will have to start working together to defeat what is to come…

The Hero
Jase Karys has changed since he was captured and tortured. He is quite powerful, intense, and full of rage and has vows to get revenge on the demon nation, no matter the cost. Jase is the youngest of the Kayrs Family, a “royal” family of the vampire nation. His brother is King, but Jase who was one the most easy-going and carefree of the brothers is not the same man anymore. Jase has his own demons to destroy and he must gain certain gifts through mating Brenna to get what he needs most. Jase is a hero that is one of the strongest of his family because of what he endured. Jase is full of rage and needs to get his revenge, but what was most admirable about Jase was how he didn’t let the demons break him. He may be damaged but is still a fighter and stronger than ever…and what an alpha male he is.

The Heroine
Brenna, is a powerful witch, or was until she was poisoned and she lost her abilities. She has known for quite some time, that she will be dying soon, and she knows that even if she mates with Jase, it may be too late for her. Brenna sees life in a very realistic way, she sees the facts and how life really is, not how she would want it to be. Brenna despite her loss of powers, is still a fighter, and boy can this woman kick ass (I would dearly love to fight like her), she is just as strong in fighting for those she cares about. I loved her dedication to Jase and aiding him. Brenna is a heroine that will charm and win you over. Practical to the core, talented in the martial arts, and emotionally sound.

Plot and Story Line
Shadowed is a story I knew was going to be dang good and boy was I right about this book!! Whew, did I love just about everything about it. Another fabulous addition to the series that Zanetti has created for us here. Shadowed follows the previous book a little bit after, some time has gone by. Jase, has been rescued and been healing since he got back. But he is full of anger and uncontrolled rage. We see how his time with the demons has affected him. In some ways the easy-going brother is gone, and a more powerful vampire has taken his place. A vampire that does what needs to be done, no matter what. Even if that means mating with a woman he doesn’t love. It seems like just about everyone is against their mating, including some of her coven members. Even though it seems like a practical arrangement, it doesn’t turn out that way. And it seems that these two are destined for more. Love the way this author weaved this story and told a tale of redemption and the healing power of love. What made the most impact on me was the change in their relationship despite the chaos surrounding them. It’s a ongoing and steady change, and you slowly see it changing from something practical to a very emotional and powerful bond these two start to build with each other.

The Cover
I actually really enjoy this cover, I love this male model…isn’t he delicious?? I love the mix of colors we have here as well. A bit different from the earlier covers.

Overall View
Shadowed is a stimulating and thrilling ride of passion, edgy suspense, and paranormal adventure…bound to know your socks off!! STUNNING!!

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

I was really excited to finally get to Jase’s book. As the youngest of Kayrs brothers, he was always the funnest brother. That is until he was kidnapped and tortured by demons for five years. Not only did the demons physically torture him, but they also did some pretty bad mental torture on him. We saw some of this torture in the previous book. Once he got out, he was not whole and he was no longer the fun-loving brother that he was before capture. He had only one thing on his mind, revenge.

Brenna Dunne isn’t supposed to exist according to several people. As the eight sister to a seventh sister, she is an abomination. No witch has ever had an eighth daughter before. They are supposed to stop at seven. There is also a prophecy about her, the solstice and a comet. People believe she is going to blow up the universe. Needless to say that has a target on her head. In an earlier book, she was poisoned and it has been killing her slowing ever since. In a desperate move to save her life, they decide that she needs to mate with a vampire to help heal the poison out her system. Jase agrees to this arranged mating because he wants her powers to go after the demons.

This is my favorite romance of the series so far. Both of these two are broken, in different ways, but broken none the less. They both agree to this arrange mating for different reasons. Both of them come together to be what the other needs to save themselves and to save each other. It is things that they are forced to do as a couple that will save them. Their love for each other that will help make them whole.

There is also a ton of stuff that happens with the war. Garrett, Janie’s young brother, is kidnapped by the Kurjans. Janie is forced to make tough decisions which really puts her at odds with her family that wants to protect her, but she knows that she must join this war if she is going to end it. Janie’s book is the next one and final book in the series. I’m excited to see how it will all wrap up.

Narration
Once again, Karen White does an amazing job. Brenna has this great Irish brogue. I don’t like it as much as Moira’s, who also has a large part in this book, but Brenna’s voice was wonderful. She also did a great job with gravelly demon voices, which I’m sure were tough to do. She continues to do a great job with men and female voices. I did listen at an increased speed, but that is normal for me.

A truly impressive Adult Paranormal/Suspense Romance.
I feasted on this series!!

The world build, the characters, everything about this series is delicious and addicting.
I can not stress just how much I love this series.

I know my reviews on these are short, but that's because I read them one after the other and couldn't be bothered to stop for anything or anyone. They are just that consuming!

This one I probably should give a solid 5, but there were a few things (although minor) that keep me from doing that.

The 2 mc's for this one is Jase & Brenna.
They will break your heart and make you laugh.
Their beginning is more like a business deal that quickly turns into passion and romance.
I loved both characters. So now I have a new favorite in this series.

The suspense & action is compelling.

Great world build and fantastic characters.

I highly recommend these.
I know I can't get enough and don't want to see this series come to end.
Ever!
