Slight spoilers!

I am going to preface this by saying I am a HUGE Nightmare Before Christmas fan...so I'd probably like this no matter what. BUT I LOVED THIS. This "sequel" to the movie was amazing. The descriptions of everything, from the surroundings down to Sally's experience being a ragdoll was done SO WELL. The atmosphere of the different holiday worlds behind each door was everything I had ever wanted it to be. I feel an extreme sense of nostalgic closure now after reading that because all the other holiday doors have had me wondering since I first watched the movie. The plot wasn't too far fetched; the villian was creepy without a lot of description, and I was genuinely interested in the tension as the plot thickened. This book is everything I needed after watching The Nightmare Christmas as a child. I wish I could read it for the first time all over again.

This book reads like a wattpad fanfiction written by a middle schooler. It made Sally to be an annoying and insufferable main character, who is so different and is ~just a ragdoll there’s simply ~no way she could be a queen!! Like oh my god shut up!

This book tries so hard to have romantic and poetic prose, but it’s just so bad. It’s so “I'm 12 years old and this is deep.” The random italicized words for emphasis were painful to read. Everything is so repetitive—I rolled my eyes every time she reminded us she’s a ragdoll and a queen. Wow thanks! I had no idea!

It’s so annoying reading through an entire chapter, and then a couple of sentences later it just states the obvious. Like yes I understood that thing, I JUST READ IT. I can’t even call this a middle grade novel because middle grade books are so much better. I wasted 5 days of my life reading this.
