definitely a heavy read so make sure you're mentally capable to read about domestic abuse and rape before you read this. I went in thinking it would be a love triangle and got hit by a ton of bricks.
I didnt want to like this cause coho is a bad person but it was very good (i read it secondhand)
I dont think it romanticises abuse clearly you read a different book if you think this??

I do think coho shouldnt be supported but if you must, borrow this from a library <3

I got pretty late into the hype of the book and to be honest, it sparked my interest, when all the messiness around the movie adaptation started. I get the hype, since the main topic is so often overlooked and misunderstood. And I get the whole outrage when it comes to the casting choices :)
When it comes to the writing style, i do not see any specific style that would make me want to go back and reread bits of the text over and over again, but it delivers what it needs to deliver.
Now for the more specific parts, which will include:
 <spoilers>
- The fact that we get to learn about her teenage years through her diary entries and always little by little, was a really smart way to keep the reader hooked.
- I hate that everything comes so casually and easily when it comes to money. It always seems like a real shame and easy way out of every situation. Either the characters are loaded with money to begin with or they have an ultra successful business in the most basic or most difficult fields.
- Why was there a love triangle? Why must there always be a love triangle? It would have been a strong enough story if she ended up making the decision she did at the end without running back to a past love… I think for Atlas it would have also be a more satisfying ending to find someone else that loves him without the baggage of trauma bonding.
- The decision she makes in order to save the relationship, I find really important and impressive. But I do think it was tainted by the events in the epilogue.
All in all a solid and emotional read.

Definitely not the kind of book you should pick up without reading the jacket first, like I made the mistake of doing.

A heavy and infuriating and brutally honest and uplifting and confusing book tbh. One of those books where's there's no dichotomy of right and wrong (with some obvi exceptions). Everyone who knows someone who has experienced an abusive relationship in any way should read this.

there is no such thing as bad people, we are just people who sometimes do bad things.
if a song described this book it would be — lose you to love me by selena gomez
