I found Sacred Rest informative, and easy to read in it's conversational style. I will definitely be sharing this with friends at church, fellow homeschooling moms, even my mother and my daughter. I may even participate in the Thirty-Day Sacred Rest Challenge.

Let me start with I didn’t read any reviews prior to getting the book and did not realized this was a Christian based book. She has some good point and I still got something out of this book but I also felt like a lot of it was “surrender to Jesus and you’ll find rest”

I loved the first half - solid 4 stars. It changed the way I see rest, renewal, rejuvenation, etc, to the point of a paradigm shift.  The second half didn't do nearly as much for me.

I picked up this book having heard of her "different kinds of rest" concept. I loved that and still do (the concept). It's fantastic for taking a closer reflective look at our inner strain and choosing a direction for action. I'm very thankful for this contribution to the conversation about our overstretched lives.

However, the author is a medical doctor - one I feel I would trust immensely and be so thankful to find - but she isn't a writer. The writing is tedious. It took me forever to finish this really-easy read because I just couldn't slog through the writing.

If you're new to the "slow down" topic and a friend highly recommended this book, perhaps it's for you. And DEFINITELY check out her rest inventory online. But otherwise, read elsewhere.

Much needed messages about the different types of rest we need. After I read through and understood what she meant by each of the areas, I think another way of saying the same thing would be to point out several areas of life where we are becoming depleted as a society, but by wording it in this novel framework, she helped me to think about it differently and inspired me to take better care of myself.

Thematically, who she is constantly comes through, which could be a turn off to some people. She’s unapologetically female, Christian, and a doctor, and that pretty much comes through in every page. She doesn’t shove the Christianity down your throat but seems open to encouraging people to find spirituality in whatever realm they can, and just points out that spirituality does have a big impact on health, which I think is a needed message for all of us.

I’m glad she wrote this book! It helped me.
