Not a strong edition in the Goosebumps series. It's mediocre, bland, and feels a bit rushed. Cracking ending though.

I recently got a bit of the nostalgia bug when thinking back to the Goosebumps books I read as a kid. Goosebumps, and by extension the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark series, definitely introduced me to the genre of horror. After Goosebumps I moved onto classics like Dracula and Jekyll/Hyde, then on to the gown up stuff throughout my life and to this day. Well, this nostalgia bug got me wanting to re-collect the original 62 run of Goosebumps books, and in their first run printings because of the amazing covers. Perhaps the best part of the series was the covers. Next up;
#35, A Shocker On Shock Street
This is one of the more unique books in the series, in that instead of taking place in a suburban neighborhood or abandoned building, it actually all takes place within the middle of an amusement park. Clearly a riff on parks like Universal Studios, there are plenty of clever scenes with monsters and attractions you are meant to question whether they are real or are they creation of the park's engineers.
The encounters get a little overboard with the inclusion of silly named monsters, or massive preying mantises that don't actually amount to much. But this books has one of the best twist endings in the series.
