I just didn’t feel connected to the characters. I found the fmc kinda whiny. I may try to read it at a later date.

Pros: It was a decent read with big topics begin talked about through the FMC struggle of being a woman in a male dominated company.

Cons: The solution given to the main conflict had a lukewarm delivery. And in my opinion felt rushed. There should have been more than a chapter spent on this issue. Additionally, the last half of the book felt very rushed and needed another round of editing.

Overall: I give this book a 3.0 as it had good bones but the delivery fell flat for me.

I really enjoyed this fake dating story where both leads were helping each others' businesses, trying to get a big joint project approved. Both are Latine and but while her family is very old fashioned, patriarchal, and sexist and often belittle her role and work at the smaller company, he is a billionaire from a larger family company, and his family is supportive and loving. I loved how supported Gabe was of Lima and the way their arrangement was never really fake since they both were attracted from the jump. I don't believe there are any ethical billionaires in real life but his company was involved in social justice causes and donating and such, so he gets a pass for fiction. Excellent fat rep and body neutrality as well. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I loved the plus size representation in this story.  It was great to see Lina own herself & her confidence.  I also loved the Latine culture - it’s not something that I’ve read much about, and I really enjoyed seeing this small look into another culture.

However, I didn’t buy the romance aspect of the story.  I didn’t feel any chemistry between Lina & Gabe.  Most of their time together consisted of stilted & wooden conversations about work and how busy & behind they were at work.  I love fake dating stories because there’s some will they won’t they moments, and there’s plenty of unresolved sexual tension, but I felt nothing.

This book was my first book by this author and I'll definitely be reading more by her. I definitely recommend this book, if you're into fake-dating, one bed, found family, Latine rep & much much more. I kicked my feet so much reading this. I even cried a bit towards the end.
While the majority of this book was a light read, the author does touch on some topics that are common occurrence's in the Latine community.
