Felt privledged and pompous and then I don't know what was going on in the last 25%. I should re-read this before giving it a proper judgement.

I did not enjoy the book. It could be because I was expecting a book on walking and some philosophy. But there were hardly a couple of pages about walking and substantially significant on how the Americas is better than the Eastern world, how it is the future, and how diverse and untamed it is comparatively. He states that it is the higher civilization in the world. I would have loved to read a better basis for his assertions than the one in the book. He goes on and on about how he believes in the Americas and his love for the untamed world. Nowhere after the first couple of pages, he meanders back to the topic of walking. It was a disappointing read for me.

The Euro-Americanist view is a bit heavy handed and overall distracting.

But, everything about walking and nature was beautiful and inspiring. I have come to similarly realize I need hours a day in nature to maintain a healthy spirit… now to make that happen in NYC….
