The second installment from the Rooks and Ruin series. I loved that the queer and identity references were not bold. They were woven in like they should be; like it's no big deal. A nice adventure story that keeps the reader engaged and waiting throughout the book. I am anxious for the next book from Melissa in this series!

This book was like.....a carpentry shop, slightly messy, then someone gave monkeys flamethrowers and set them lose. The whole book ppl are trying to take away the flamethrowers, get the monkeys out, and douse the flames. Finally at the very end it's all settled, and they've managed to precariously build a table. Then in the last minute (literally) someone comes in, and just flips the table into a wall, and that's the end of the book.

I listened to the audiobook. It was great! I need to take a break before the last in the series bc that was intense.

Found the worldbuilding far more interesting than the characters.
