I was so dreading reading this based on half recalled memories of watching the film in high school but it turns out that I didn't hate it at all. I actually kind of liked it. Couldn't put it down, at least, even knowing the story as I did.
A side note -my edition had the unfortunate (and probably original and historically accurate) use of the N-word which I wasn't a fan of.

I did not expect to like this book, I read it for a school assignment after all, but I guess it was better than some other books we've had to read for school.
