I am absolutely obsessed with this book! On a whim I decided to join their ARC team and I am so happy that I did! As soon as I picked up the book I was hooked on everything about it! I've always had a hit & miss relationship with horror novels but this one absolutely hit the spot and I can't get over how much I totally enjoyed this book!

If you love all things horror, then this book is absolutely the book for you!

This is Not a Horror Story is a brand new anthology from @nightterrornovels publishing house.
⠀
My thoughts while reading this collection:
⠀
No way!
That was grim.
What the fuck have I just read? 🤨
Gross 👀
confused
Transgressive fiction is NOT for me, NOPE
I don’t get it
Kerouac would have LOVED this one
OH my GOD that just BLEW my mind!
I think I just got it
more confusion
SHIVERS
Nice, a bit of folklore
I need a movie adaptation
Wha…What the fuck have I just read?! 🤯😳
⠀
If you pick it up, please pay attention to the TW. Some stories I just didn’t get, others really stood out!

◾️Back home for a bit
by @thomaskodnar
⠀
The anthology opens with this work of slipstream fiction. What I loved about it was that it managed to bring about a very uncanny feeling without much action or gore. And to think this could be interpreted as a big horrifying metaphor… 👀
⠀
◾️The Puppy Farm
by Marc Joan
⠀
This story stood out for many reviewers out there and it deserves every word of praise. Marc brings up some serious morality issues with remarkable detail. How far is too far for scientific progress? Oh you’re siding with this character! Well, how about now?
And that chilling finale — the cherry on top 👏🏻

◾️Wake up, Miles
by @writecarla
⠀
This one felt like a child of Stranger Things and M….. oops no spoilers in my reviews 😅 I loved how compelling and easy to read it was. I felt like I wanted to learn more about Miles but open endings are a thing for a reason 😏
⠀
◾️Obsidian
by Angela Sylvaine
⠀
Sent shivers down my spine for sure. I think it’s a great visual representation of trauma!
⠀
◾️Fade to Black
by Ashley Stokes
⠀
This was really creepy and confusing in the best possible way. Ancient gods, ghost cities, disappearance mystery — it’s got it all!
⠀
Overall, this anthology is certain to make you feel things, be it shock or fascination, chills or disgust, and that’s exactly what art is supposed to do.
⠀
It doesn’t have to make you feel good.
It has to make you FEEL.
⠀
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
